Iris Nielson and Sandalee

Eunice Tidwell Merrill has done much to preserve family records and pictures for the Tidwells and Brightons.  Following is an email written to Allen Hackworth, her nephew.  The email contains some information about Iris and Sandalee.  Eunice wrote:

“I was only 5 years old.  Iris married Owen Baer and the two of them, who had both been LDS, joined the Presbyterian Church in Logan (I think that was the one.)

I remember going with Mom and Dad to take a present to Sandalee when she was about three-four years old. Iris wouldn't let her open it. They finally moved to Oregon.to get away from our family.  How different she was from your Mom.

After I moved over here, I contacted Sandalee in Arizona.  She was so nice and was planning to fly to Seattle where we could meet.  The next time I called, she hung up on me.  I am sure Iris told her not to have anything to do with us.

I think her last name was Morton.  My best friend was married to Dick Campbell whose mother is a sister to Owen Baer.  She tried to learn something from them but only learned that their family doesn't know anything about their siblings. Such is life.  I talked many times with Mildred Hansen in Logan.  She is the sister of Iris.  She said Mom and Dad were so good to her that she didn't know why Iris was that way.

The time I talked with Sandalee, she mentioned that she had cancer.  I have the feeling she is dead.  I wish I knew some information about her.  I would like to do the work for Owen and Iris — but such is life!”
